Chemical Composition
A588 Grade C contains controlled levels of carbon, manganese, silicon, phosphorus, copper, chromium, nickel, and vanadium. Copper and chromium are the primary alloying elements responsible for atmospheric corrosion resistance, while nickel and vanadium contribute to strength and structural stability. The composition is carefully balanced to provide both durability and weldability for structural fabrication.
Mechanical Properties
A588 Grade C offers a minimum yield strength of 345 MPa and a tensile strength range of 485–620 MPa. The steel maintains good ductility and fabrication characteristics while providing higher strength than conventional carbon structural steels. Its mechanical performance makes it suitable for load‑bearing structures exposed to long‑term atmospheric conditions.
