A573 Grade 65 is a carbon‑manganese‑silicon structural steel plate produced using fine‑grain practice to deliver improved notch toughness at atmospheric temperatures. It is used in welded structures, storage tanks, building components, and engineering frames requiring a balance of strength, ductility, and toughness. The grade offers stable welding performance and consistent mechanical behavior across different thickness ranges.

Chemical Composition (ASTM A573/A573M)

Carbon: ≤ 0.24% (t ≤ 13 mm)
Carbon: ≤ 0.26% (13 mm < t ≤ 40 mm)
Manganese: 0.85–1.20% (may increase to 1.50% when carbon is reduced)
Silicon: 0.15–0.40%
Phosphorus: ≤ 0.03%
Sulfur: ≤ 0.03%
Aluminum (total): ≥ 0.020% (fine‑grain practice)

Mechanical Properties

Tensile Strength: 450–530 MPa
Yield Strength: ≥ 240 MPa
Elongation:
- ≥ 20% (200 mm gauge length)
- ≥ 23% (50 mm gauge length)
