ASTM A516 Grade 55 Carbon Steel Plate

ASTM A516 Grade 55 covers carbon steel plates intended primarily for use in welded pressure vessels where improved notch toughness is important.This kind of steel are used in Pressure Vessel,Boiler,Storage Tanks and Heat Exchanger in Oil,Gas Project.

A516 Gr.55 steel plate is intended primarily for service in welded pressure vessels where improved notch toughness is important. Plates 1.50” and under in thickness are normally supplied in the as-rolled condition. ASTM A516 Gr.55 steel is used in moderate and lower temperature pressure vessels steel because of the steel material chemical composition and the property in welding.

Maximum plate thickness is only limited by the capacity of the composition to meet the specified mechanical property requirements; however, current production of ASTM A516 Grade 55 plates are normally limited to maximum thickness of 12 in.
