JIS G3101 SS490 steel is a kind of common structure steel . There are four steel grades or levels in the standard JIS G3101,they are: SS330, SS400, SS490 , SS540 . This standard JIS G3101 SS490 applies to the general structure of hot rolled steel, such as Bridges, ships, vehicles and other structures .

The Chemical Composition of SS490 Steels:

JIS G 3101 defines the chemical composition of SS490 steels as under:
Carbon (C) is not identified in the standard.
Manganese (Mn) is not identified in the standard.
Maximum percentage of Phosphorous (P) is 0.050 percent.
Maximum percentage of Sulphur (S) is 0.050 percent.
Remaining is iron (Fe) percentage and with few negligible impurities.
